Lovely November

November is underrated for seasonal beauty. Each November, just when I have come down from the exhilerating colors of fall, the soft light and amber hues of our last month of flora and fauna surprises me. There are plenty of things to see if you are open to noticing them.
I guess it's a bittersweet beauty, the frost on the fallen leaves. Nothing more will grow now. The countryside is settling down for a long winter's sleep.
Colors fade to neutrals, then to stark whites with shadows. Now we notice the architecture of the plants.

Part of my commute to the school is irritating traffic. Other parts are invigorating scenes of farms, meadows, animals.
Today I actually took a few minutes to pull off the highway. I wanted a couple pictures of this view before it turns white and frosty.
My day took me to the wonderful town of Portsmouth. I never get tired of it. Today I was reminded that there is a lot there. I shouldn't go to my old favorite places all the time because there are so many new places to discover.
So many outstanding restaurants from which to choose. Where will I have lunch today?
I chose a place I've walked by for 3 years. Finally I went in to try it. An instant hit!!! Can you locals tell from the door handle? It's the Flatbread Company pizza shop. I had no idea that little doorway was the passage to such a great big amazing place inside.
They have a big open interior full of energy and sounds. There are old wood floors, comfortable to walk on. The decor is artsy, reminded me instantly of Vermont. There are two giant wood fire ovens, which everybody knows makes the best pizza.
I ate the organic veggie daily special. The flatbread pizza was so fresh and delicious with many flavors. It had thin sliced roasted red potatoes on it. And leeks. And herbs. So, so good. I'll definitely go there again.
